My journey to Denver, Colorado reverts back to February on a wintery night. A few weeks prior to the winter glaze of snow I was introduced to the app Cycloramic by a good friend of mine and entrepreneur, Steve Wolf. The app automatically spins your iPhone 4s and 5 by utilizing the vibration feature. The iPhone has the ability to stand upright without a case. In order to spin the iPhone 5 you have to stand the iPhone up on a smooth flat surface, glass and marble works the best. From there, you press the button on the touch-screen and watch the iPhone automatically spin 360 degrees to take a panoramic picture or video.
Not to many people knew about the app, so many people were in awe whenever I showed them. I enjoyed the reactions I was getting, it was all good things. The snow began to fall and I had plans to commute back home on a train to see my girlfriend at the time who inspired me to paint this.
I always enjoyed the original picture of an Ant Pushing a Water Droplet, Moreover, watching the movie “Antz” the night before painting it gave me motivation and perspective. The Translucent Water Droplet piece took me three days. It was the first time painting something serious since 5th grade in Mrs. Holts art class at Edgewood Elementary School. I’ve met a fair amount of artists in my life and they had always seemed to be free, open-minded, and happy. However, Mrs. Holt was a different spice -Edgewood Alum can attest to that.

Back to Cycloramic:
I have a history of submitting viral posts in the past with the community Reddit. I figured I’d give Cycloramic a shot at going viral. The trick to making posts go viral on Reddit is a catchy title, timing, and sometimes content. In the case of Cycloramic it was all about the content since it was an awesome app. With that in mind, I posted a panoramic picture I had taken earlier of my roommates using Cycloramic. It was posted in the subreddit r/iPhone, r/apple, and r/technology. It was the top post in r/apple which has close to 143,000 subscribers. It did well in r/iPhone and r/technology making the front page and all-together reaching about 2.3 million subscribers -the post went viral.
This viral post was different from others in the past though. Usually when I would go viral I would rejoice the fact that my message reached millions. WIth the Cycloramic post, however, I decided to email the company before going viral and inform them that they would experience a peak in sales. Cycloramic’s CEO Bruno Francois immediately responded.
I was amped up and journeyed forward to the suburbs to see Hayley. Before boarding the train a tweet came up from a news anchor at CBS who I met months before on Temples campus. She asked her followers to share their snow pictures. I took a picture of the train traffic light in the snow, titled it “Light Snow” with the emphasis on light and sent it to her. Later that night I found out through my buddy Tim that my name and picture was on the news.
Hayley picked me up at the train station and we drove in the snow to her house in New Hope. I had this weird feeling that we were going to crash since we were slightly skidding out due to her stopping last minute as if there was no snow on the ground. We were on River Road and heading to the stop sign at Washington’s Crossing bridge when she stopped too suddenly. We were heading straight into a stop sign and we both braced for impact. Right before impact time slowed down and for some reason we were both at ease and not panicked. We hit the sign and nothing happened. I was seriously confused as to why this was the case and got out of the car. I went up to the front of the car and looked down at the stop sign…it was wooden, a wooden stop sign. “Seriously?” I thought. Good karma was on my side that day. I made a just choice and alerted the police that there was a damaged stop sign at the four-way intersection, thus preventing any accidents from occurring.
The next day I made it a point to study different stop signs in the New Hope and Newtown region. We must of passed 20 or so stop signs that day and not one, not one was wooden.
After the successful post Francois and I skyped. It was a positive talk, we both enjoyed creation and had interesting designs on the back of our iPhones. His being Steve Wozniak’s (Apple creator) signature and mine being an ape illustration created by artist Philipp Zurmhole of Nuremberg, Germany. Cycloramic put its faith in me and I put mine in them. For a minute, I didn’t know what my next move should be. I linked up with my artist friend Maria and she told me about the first annual U.S. Cannabis Cup in Denver, Colorado that she was attending. In that moment I thought it would be a great idea to promote Cycloramic at the Cannabis Cup.
I pitched the idea to Cycloramic and they were onboard with it. They generously paid for my airfare along with a banner and business cards.
Next thing you know I’m at the Cannabis Cup with a High Times Press Pass putting on demonstrations and spinning the iPhone 5 with Maria and a good friend of mine Tree.
Something interesting that occured: Civic Center Shooting
A few days prior to the cup 2 evil souls decided to bomb the Boston Marathon killing about 34 people. The thought of there being a potential copycat at the Cannabis Cup was in the back of my mind, considering there were an estimated 50,000 people attending. The main event was located at the EXDO Center in the industrial, yet friendly and clean area of Denver. It was about a mile away from the heart of Denver and the Civic Center, a park where 50,000 planned to gather in to celebrate the legalization of Cannabis. After all work was done at the EXDO Center on 4/20, the first day of the two day event, we headed to the Civic Center gathering. We parked a block away and as we were walking into the park, thousands of people sprinted towards us, all with a frantic look on their faces. Someone in the Civic Center Park shot a gun and no one knew exactly why. The Boston Bombing was the only thing major media outlets had been talking about so this was still fresh in everyones mind. With that in mind, me, Maria, and Tree turned around and sprinted for shelter. Next thing you know, the swat vehicles are patrolling the streets. Things settled down and luckily no one died. I’m not sure if they captured the shooter or not, it was believed to be gang related.
Upon returning I went viral yet again in r/funny with this picture titled:
Just in case anyone was confused, chainsaws are not acceptable

If you are ever promoting something you should have an injured puppy with a cast nearby.

Portable Joint Table:
Need to roll a joint but have no where to roll it? No worries, the man with the portable joint rolling table has you covered.
"Vaporizer is a device used to extract active ingredients from plant materials. It does this by heating the plant material to a point hot enough so that active ingredients pass from a liquid to a gaseous state (this is what’s called “vapor” guys and gals). It does not, however, set them on fire.
In comparison, combustion, by definition, ignites the tobacco or plant. This also releases active ingredients. However, it also destroys a significant amount of the plant’s active ingredients and more worryingly, it carbonizes the plant fibers (that’s “smoke” to you and me). These nasty buggers then go straight into your lungs and blood stream. Not good. Not good at all.”
Vaporization is not only healthier than smoking, it is also more economical. In short, you use less plant material to achieve the same effect. And who wants to spend more than they need to? No one we know, that’s for sure.
Vaporizing (especially with The Cloud) gives you the cleanest, purest flavor and eliminates the harmful effects of smoking.”
